Grant from the European Research Council (ERC) established by the European Commission:

This project is primarily funded by a EUR 1.45 million starting grant from the European Research Council (ERC).

The European Research Council (ERC) is the European Union funding body that implements the Specific FP7 Programme 'Ideas'. It is part of the Seventh Research Framework Programme (FP7). The Ideas Programme supports "investigator-driven" research carried out across all fields by individual national or transnational teams in competition at the European level.

European Research Council Starting Grants aim to support up-and-coming research leaders who are about to establish a proper research team and to start conducting independent research in Europe. The scheme targets promising researchers who have the proven potential of becoming independent research leaders. It will support the creation of excellent new research teams.
